The Wilderness Workshop
The Wilderness Workshop consists of a Father and Daughter duo who reside 3000 miles apart from one another. Thayer Allyson Gowdy, creative director, lives and works as a photographer in San Francisco, CA. Her Father, Joe Arborio, craftsman, lives and works in the Northeast Kingdom (Island Pond, Vermont). Together, despite the distance between them, they create beautiful works of art in the form of solder and stained glass.
The Wilderness Workshop: Joe Arborio (Father) & Thayer Allyson Gowdy (Daughter)
A recent bright day in Vermont- the Father and Daughter duo enjoy a nice laugh in the sun.
Gowdy's Inspiration Triptych from her formative years in life.
These images represent what Gowdy finds difficult to put into words.
Joe Arborio in the Northeast Kingdom, Vermont
Arborio is a man of many talents: chef, stained glass artist, motorcycle enthusiast, tractor driver, sailor, and outdoorsman (pictured here).

The wilderness is as much a part of Gowdy's everyday life as possible. This is where she finds her inspiration for not only her creations, but for life itself.

Gowdy, who is a professional photographer, in addition to being a part of the Wilderness Workshop, "I spend a lot of time at the beach with my dog, Scout. I have been mesmerized by the light on the water lately and working on a book called, "Take Me To The Sea". A larger series of images inspired by the project I did in Collaboration with Ed Varie Gallery in the Lower East Side."
