Nisian Hughes
Nisian Hughes is a fine-art, commercial and fashion photographer from New York City. His work has appeared in Harper's Bazaar, Men's Vogue and Elle, among other publications, and he counts among his commercial clients Converse, Octane, Agnes B., Pier 59, Kiki De Montparnasse, Improvd and Barneys. Hughes previously worked as the art director of Double Magazine in Paris, and he traveled the world photographing and filming Bjork's Greatest Hits Tour. Currently, he is working on a book of ballet photography. It is on his downtime that the relentlessly creative Hughes designs and builds the distinctive furniture offered by Whisper.

This is Nisian Hughes sometime in the mid-1980s. "I grew up in SoHo, in Manhattan, and rode my Tony Hawk skateboard everywhere," he says.

This is Hughes in his early twenties. "This is when I started wearing my now signature glasses," Hughes says. "I had them made for me in four colors: black, white, grey and clear."

"This is when I started shooting a lot of ballet," Hughes says. "This is me light-testing."
