Stephanie Wynne Lalin and Jenny Klatt shared remarkably similar trajectories before they even met. As children, they both preferred crayons to dolls. In high school, they were both drawn to art and design. In college, they both found their way to their local bead stores and began making jewelry for their friends. When their paths finally crossed as professional jewelry designers in 2005, they found they shared the exact same aesthetic: fine quality, but comfortable. And so a uniquely harmonious partnership was born with the launch of their casually sophisticated line, Jemma Wynne, which they call “the cashmere hoodie of jewelry.”

When Klatt and Lalin are not finishing each other’s sentences, they seem to be in agreement on most things. “I kind of organically fell into it,” Klatt says of her design path. “It wasn’t ever a plan in my mind. It was an art life that grew into making jewelry.” Lalin adds: “Same here.” At their Fifth Avenue atelier, the pair create very relaxed and wearable pieces with the most precious of stones, among them black diamonds, white diamonds, tourmaline and sapphires. Their unique and idiosyncratic approach has made fans of Jessica Biel, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Scarlett Johansson and Miranda Kerr, among other celebrities.

For Whisper Editions, Klatt and Lalin have customized one of their most popular signature designs, a delicate gold bangle featuring a geometric clasp with inlaid diamonds. Instead of one of their classic Jemma Wynne clasps, this exclusive piece will showcase an elegant diamond fastener designed to mirror Whisper’s hourglass logo. “It’s something that’s really delicate, really simple feeling, but also very everyday, which is really the essence of our brand,” Klatt says. “We’re capturing the Whisper brand with our brand.”
