No 35 - RALPH GIBSON
This exclusive print from renowned photographer Ralph Gibson was originally shot for Neville Wakefield's Special Edition of Playboy (May 2014). Photographed with his signature Leica Monochrome in a palette of harmonious, but distinctly realized grays and strong blacks. It depicts a man in a suit grasping the naked leg of a prone woman. Whatever has happened or is about transpire remains unknown, a mystery that ratchets the erotic tension up to mesmerizing levels. In Gibson's words “Reality exists in three dimensions, a hundred percent scale and in color,” he explains. “Now you take a picture in black and white and reduce it to two dimensions and onto a page. You’re three steps abstracted from reality. You’ve got yourself a lot of drama.” Read more about Gibson and his work on The Hourglass. Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
